What kind of wire and cable insulation materials are there?
As we all know, the commonly used wire and cable silicone waterproof sealing ring has crosslinked polyethylene, polyvinyl chloride and polyethylene. So what's the difference between these different insulation materials? Why not use a single material for wire and cable insulation.
1. Cross-linked polyethylene is a kind of advanced form of polyethylene material after transformation. After improvement, its physical and chemical properties compared with PE material has been greatly improved, at the same time, significantly improved its heat resistance grade. Therefore, xLPE insulated wire and cable has the advantages that PE insulated wire and cable can not match: relatively large insulation resistance, corrosion resistance, light weight, good heat resistance and so on.
2. Polyvinyl chloride (PVC) is a polymer of free polymerization of vinyl chloride monomer under specific conditions. It has the characteristics of aging resistance, acid resistance, alkali resistance, corrosion resistance and stability. It is widely used in pipeline pipes, wires and cables, sealing materials, daily necessities, building materials and so on. It is divided into soft and hard: soft is mainly used for making packaging materials, agricultural film, widely used in the manufacture of insulation layer of wire and cable, and hard is generally used for making pipes and plates. The biggest characteristic of PVC material is flame retardant, so it is widely used in the field of fire prevention, is one of the most common insulation materials used in fire-retardant wire and cable. 3, polyethylene, ethylene polymerization of a thermoplastic resin, non-toxic harmless, excellent low temperature resistance, while the ability to most acid and alkali erosion, excellent electrical insulation performance. At the same time, polyethylene has the characteristics of non-polarity, so it has the characteristics of low loss and high conductivity, so it is generally used as the insulation material of high voltage wires and cables.
